At the core of IBM’s innovation are its 12 global research labs. IBM Research - Australia is a vibrant and relatively young community within IBM Research. The lab is primarily an industry solutions lab that focuses on conceiving, designing and building next generation systems that will transform health and life sciences, government sector and financial services. We are seeking a post-doctoral candidate for a position in our Computational Biophysics team working on computational biofluid dynamics and machine learning based techniques, with application to interventional cardiology.

Candidates will be joining a team of researchers and software engineers to research, build, test and deploy solutions for some of the world’s challenging technology problems. As a post-doctoral researcher, they will be expected to lead a research project, and to contribute to the planning, engineering and execution of these ideas to bring them to an advanced state of demonstrable feasibility under the supervision of a manager or research staff member. Post-doctoral researchers are expected to disseminate, internally and externally, the results of these activities through publications in world-class journals and at top-tier conferences, seminar presentations and patent disclosures.

Candidate should have a proven track record of original and creative research with a deep knowledge of engineering, information technology and computer science and expertise in two or more of the following areas: machine and deep learning, medical image and video analytics, optimisation, medical data analytics and visualisation. Familiarity with computational fluid dynamics, numerical analysis and biophysical modelling would also be helpful.

Required Skills:

· Ph.D. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
· Track record of research publications in high-quality journals and conferences
· Proven ability to collaborate in research teams
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work with and maintain close connections with other teams around the world
